How do you inspire your pupils to transform and thrive when using the service?
As a dedicated maths teacher, I strive to make learning accessible and engaging by tailoring lessons to suit each student’s learning style and needs. Recognising the challenges that maths can present, I ensure my lessons are both relevant and practical, demonstrating real-life applications to help students see its value. Listening to student feedback is central to my approach, as it allows me to refine my methods and ensure each learner feels supported and understood.
What are some of the most rewarding aspects of teaching for the ELS?
One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching within the E-Learning Service is the opportunity to work one-to-one with students and witness their personal growth. Many students face significant challenges, yet their resilience and determination to succeed never cease to inspire me. Building meaningful connections with them online and tracking their progress—not just in maths but in their overall confidence and attitude towards learning—is an immensely fulfilling experience.
What tools have you used to engage “harder to reach” students?
To engage students who may find traditional methods difficult, I employ a variety of interactive tools and approaches. From games and puzzles to videos and step-by-step examples, I adapt my teaching to meet individual preferences. I also provide personalised feedback in multiple formats, including voice recordings and video walkthroughs, which helps students deepen their understanding and stay motivated on their learning journey.
